Did one of the Ladybird/Pickwick Tell-a-tale series have a bunch of Greek myths?
The Phoenix, The Basilisk, The Sphinx, were definitely in it.
Every now and then I try to track down "the scary blue cassette tape" from my childhood and that series has a similar vibe from what I've heard.
