This morning there was an unexpected visitor in my office, a ladybird looking a little worse for the wear.

Given the heatwave I sort of assumed it wanted a drink, at the very least, so I sprinkled water droplets everywhere.

It decided the one on the coffee doser was the one it wanted to drink from and here's a picture of that.

Ladybird appreciation post 🐞

All photos taken in our orchard vegetable beds - there were aphids, aphid-farming ants, and aphid-eating ladybirds all in attendance, along with other flying, pollinating insects enjoying a glorious afternoon.

Sadly, it appears Richard Jefferies wasn't as enamoured, as they weren't really mentioned in his writings!

Quite by coincidence I was reading up on #ladybird again, when I noticed this:

They no longer accept outside code contributions. I wonder whether it makes sense to consider such projects #opensource, regardless of their license.
I also don't know how they intend to grow their team or replace team members if they no longer have code contributors.
