@jonobie There seems to be a much more vocal "permanent DST" movement than a "permanent standard time" movement in WA and in general. A common argument for PDST is being able to drive home in the summer while it's still light out or something like that.

Meanwhile the main anti-PDST argument is that it would mean more kids waiting for the bus in the pitch dark in winter mornings.

(Of course, people and businesses and schools could just work different hours...)
