Getting Ready for Open Science

Academic research is moving towards a near future where “as open as possible” will be the common standard. Most notably, 2025 will be the year in which most research in the U.S. will include practices such as open access publishing and open data, as new standards from the federal government are implemented. During this year’s Open Access Week, it’s worth taking a moment to consider what steps are worth preparing for now.

@dstephenlindsay That's actually how I came across the other article! The first paragraph of that piece got me immediately distracted! 😂

Working on my "on my way out" editorial and am currently evaluating how much of this (e.g., #TOPGuidelines) we can still implement, and how much of this needs to be a TOPic for future editors in chief.

On 28 Oct I announced an #openscience policy update at the journal Cortex: Apart from rare exceptions, authors intending to publish their #RegisteredReport in Cortex should now submit to the Peer Community in Registered Reports.

I explain these changes here> http://neurochambers.blogspot.com/2022/11/changing-culture-of-scientific.html

On 31 Dec my role as a Cortex editor will be ending after 10 yrs. Thank you to all the amazing people who helped create this vision for #openscience via #RegisteredReports, #VerificationReports & the #TOPGuidelines.
