I’m continuing today on a TGV Euroduplex. This is the start of my last #TGVThursday of the year.

I have the option of changing at Lyon Part Dieu, or Valence TGV Rhône-Alpes Sud.

I’d have 15 minutes longer in Lyon, but there’s nowhere really to sit down, and they don’t tell you your platform until they’re well and ready for you (notwithstanding @bovine3dom’s new Firefox plugin that bypasses the information censorship), and the food selection in the station right now is aimed towards the traveller who needs to pick something up on the way to getting on a train.

In Valence TGV I can chill out on the bridge over the train lines and watch trains go ny0000m at 300 km/h, or go to a known quantity that is the Brasserie Basics 4 at the Quartier de la Gare next to the station. The station will be relatively empty and… I think I’ve just talked myself into changing there.

On the rails again… #Interrail #CrossBorderRail

Today I’m on an unexpectedly early Renfe S100 to Lyon Part Dieu.

Unexpectedly early because I was expecting to take the 09:28 TGV InOui to Paris today, but I decided that it was better to get on an earlier train to have more chance of recovering later, as there was an extreme weather warning #Weewoo last night.

The train left on time, though.

And whilst this is a Renfe-Branded AVE S100, it is actually a modified Alstom-CAF TGV that was specially built for running on Spanish rails. I will be taking an actual TGV to Paris later (touch melamine) and will then be taking a Eurostar red-branded TGV to Amsterdam. As such, I declare it to be #TGVThursday and am listening to an appropriate Synthwave playlist on the trains.

I was booked onto a single seat, but a conductor has told me I can take the double table instead, as the train is not running full
