Oh damn, didn't need to touch #Apache configs for years, now diving into this again and... This is hell.
Somehow #Nginx configs seem so much cleaner, and documentation better.
There are pitfalls, but at least it doesn't seem like I need to spend hours reading the docs to differentiate between mod_ldap, mod_authn_ldap, mod_authz_ldap, mod_authnz_ldap, and using LDAP with AuthBasicProvider.
