Today, on World Sickle Cell Day, we come together to raise awareness about sickle cell disease (SCD), a major genetic condition affecting over 300,000 births worldwide every year. India bears the second-largest burden, especially among tribal communities facing social and economic challenges. Early diagnosis, proper treatment, and community support are vital to improving lives.

This year's theme highlights the urgent need to close the survival gap by promoting equity in care and support for all affected individuals. Letโ€™s uniteโ€”locally and globallyโ€”to share knowledge, strengthen support systems, and ensure better health outcomes for those living with SCD.

๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ:
- Sickle cell trait carriers should get tested, especially before planning a family
- Newborn screening within 24-48 hours is crucial for early detection
- Awareness can save lives and reduce complications

Join the movement to empower patients and communities!
