Doze

Eyelids slow blinking like a cat
The world splitting in dreams and reality.
Her warm hand slipped over his chest, fingers soft as flowers.
Breathing so shallow yet inebriated by oxygen.
Walls swirled and ceiling faded.
Color in and out.
Breath just shadows.
Heart setting beats, slow and hypnotic.
Eyes now hiding but open to a new chromatic landscape.
She finds her way in and they float away on an endless clear sea.

Shaking House

Seized by the thought
Lost in your inference
That the walls held the roof
But I'm in the cellar
Lurking in truth

Rain seeps in
Dew or tears
So hard to shake out
Difference like this
He holds the umbrella, skeletal

Mortar crumbles
As bricks shift and yaw
They hold the floor up
From the basement
Eyes like pillars

Rebuild and require
Planks form like moss
They hold moist hands
Staring deep and free at last
Buttressed and in love

"Between" By Norman Barton

YouTube

Lift

He lifts the hatch
Peers inside her head
She taps at his heart
Listening to echoes instead.

Tiny the distance between the two
An eternity to learn and then by few.

Tugging the string, lean and entwined
Suffering the masks that make them blind

She/she she/he he/he THEY
Possibly a pronoun isn't all to blame

I tread, I lift, I sing, I decay
Now there is nothing left at all to say.

Slip

Just loose the fingers
Toes to the edge
Last blossom
Cup that sustained, drained

He let the curtains billow like breath, in and out the window. The wind more casual and sweet than usual. Noises of earlier ignored, his ears ringing all the same.

Metallic arc
So close but missed
Parmatma quiet
Toil in twisting

He slowly erased the last few words. White paper now all smudges, emotions unread. The book slipped closed with a quite thump of paper and nervousness.

Final

Listing nothing
Lost shadows
You gauge me on thought
So little you care
Climbing sleep
Silhouette
They comfort the breeze
With no regrets
Pained emptiness
Sightless soul
I'm not really there
You're never here
Tear streak
Hollow points
We're our final trigger
And I have no grip

"Heartache"

Snow.
Tears.
Spun in ice from summer sun.
Chest wound unbound, life.
Again.
Rain,
But leaves blow away at storm's entrance.
Somethings are always unintended chance.
But heart.
Lost.
In single swing of days
Nothing completely takes away.
Heartache.

Life like Not

Life.
Right out there.
Groups of people living.
Some slapping you down. Some thinking you're a god. Others just like laughing with you.
Some, most of them don't even know you.
They don't consider that time you got so scared when you really met death for the first time.
Or when that kiss turned into hands and fevered writhing. First time.
Last time.
Right out there.
Life.

"Solipsism"

She, not he.
No one else to see.
Mirror and time.
Twixt sublime.
All matter her.
Humanity obscure.
She rests the light on the tome.
All is her library, her literary home.
Back, she reflectively speaks,
"I am, not thee."

Sea Flow

Can't say that I'm the source.
Could it be too flow?
Too lost in a stream
Swimming downstream.
Feeling the bottom, sand so coarse.
Just sleeping with the invertebrates.
You're just floating up there.
All sun shined and glitter.
As I flow to this wine dark sea.
Catching, clutching at waves.
All an undercurrent unknown to you.
But I don't mind drowning.
Just another fish.
Another depth.
One more love.
