Good morning and happy birthday to Martin Archer Shee, a portrait artist from the 19th Century. I definitely have a bias towards Irish artists over the centuries, and this guy was the president of the RHA... but... his portraits really seem out of whack. The heads always seem just a little too small, (just me?!) Anyway, here is "Portrait of William IV", Oil on canvas 1835.

ANYHOOSERS! Happy Birthday to Fermin Rocker. I was looking for a hi res jpg of,"Cafe Scene by the River" but I can't find one. This is emblematic of his (rare) political work "The Refugees". Beautiful style.

Good morning!!! Today is the birthday of Ellen Lanyon, and this is her piece called, "Dragons and Dominos, 1999–2007. Acrylic on canvas."
Isn't it beautiful? I don't know why the piece took 8 years to complete, maybe she got distracted? We're all guilty of that sometimes!

1st time I missed #STDWA yesterday due to a horrible bug! Anyway, I'm feeling better, but weak. Today we celebrate the birthday of an Irish artist, Helen Mabel Trevor with her piece, “Breton Boys en retenue” 1881, oil on canvas. I can't tell you why I've picked this, I just dig it. Hopefully back at 100% tomorrow.

Some beautiful art for today's #StartTheDayWithArt it's the birthday of Remedios Varo. Amazingly this was painted in 1956! "El Juglar" (Cardboard, Nacre, Oil paint) I would thoroughly recommend looking at her other works as they are beautiful. One of my favourite finds from doing #STDWA

Good morning from a stuffed up nose of a bed. Bless the 5 year old for constantly giving me germs. I'm so happy to see her being so generous...
Today is the birthday of Ruth Henshaw Bascom, a folk artist. What I like about "Aunt Ruth" is that she was 29 when she did her first portrait, but 46 when she started regularly. She has 1400 attributed portraits!
As someone on the wrong side of 40, this is refreshing to hear.
