We had a day off in Vegas between the Diana Initiative lockpick village and the Squadcon lockpicking workshop so we went paddle boarding on Lake Mead. It was about 113 degrees F, but the water was cool and the views were spectacular. This is emerald cave.

Summer Camp 2023 COVID Dashboard – Skytalks

Hacker Summer Camp 2023 Informal COVID Survey

Did you attend any event during "Security Summer Camp"? If you were in Vegas during that week and attended any of the various events (TDI, SquadCon, BSLV, Black Hat, DEF CON) we want your data! Greetings from your friendly Skytalks crew! IF YOU'VE TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID DURING OR AFTER CON, WE WANT TO KNOW! UPDATE: results from this are getting summarized at https://skytalks.info/summer-camp-2023-covid-dashboard/ We've been watching the results of Hacker Summer Camp this year with great interest, even thought we weren't participating as a group. One thing we did want to see that didn't happen last year was an open, coordinated idea of how many people tested positive (or "caught") COVID either sometime while in Vegas, or subsequent to. We don't feel like there was a lot of transparency on that last year, and we'd like to fix that with the support of those willing. So here's what we're going to do -- we're going to build a list. (See further down if you'd like to participate but don't want your info to be public.) We're asking for public verification because we may release this data later in bulk and/or aggregate, and since we're using Google services to correlate this, we can't guarantee total privacy. What we'd like to see from your participation is the following: Who are you? (handle is fine - just something you're publicly known by) Public form of social media (form and handle delineated below, currently supporting Twitter, Blue Sky, and Mastodon/Fediverse. Maybe Facebook with usernames) Link to social media post noting a positive COVID test. Bonus points if you post the test picture. (optional) Date tested positive, if you know it (optional) Days and events attended (optional) Any comments? This is useful for people to make their own risk assessments based on who they interacted with, and where they were. We ask that you don't fuck it up for others, although we know there are dirtbags who will be more than happy to do so. If you don't want to openly participate in the tracker, we'd still like the data, which we can pseudonymize on a case by case basis. Please email us at covid-tracking (at) skytalks (dot) info. We reserve the right to reject any and all data from this, however, based on whether we feel the system is being gamed. Again, don't fuck it up for others. We plan to keep this open through the end of the month (31 August) to allow time for any slow-incubation cases to make themselves apparent. Don't forget to test regularly during the post-con period, even if you aren't feeling sick (yet) -- you can still be transmissible or a carrier even without symptoms, and you can be transmissible before symptoms (that's how bluknight ended up with this - helped a friend who "was fine" and later popped hot). At least every other day. If possible, do a combined test -- swab throat and inside of mouth as well as nasal passages. Indications are that this gives a better result. Thanks for your help, gang. We appreciate it. Hopefully this'll give us an idea of how bad the CON-VID is this year. --bluknight, for the Skytalks team
