Six of us waiting for the locks to be opened. A splat of vomit on the cracked and heaving sidewalk. The sole of a shoe torn and detatched smothers a tuft of crabgrass.

Acres of asphalt, unused and baking in the early morning sun. A once glorious center for commerce, the Sears store in downtown St. Paul is a peeling and wrinkled husk one gust of wind away from obliteration.
