So applicable to the NZ decisions on 'sovereignty' as well. Everybody is still flocking to US Big Tech, leaving Aotearoa providers out of the game, thus keeping themselves 'cleanly sovereignty washed'.

I’m experiencing again and again sovereignty washing done by poor AWS or Microsoft employees. I’m wondering how it feels to do such a kind of disgusting job. Do they even sleep well? What are they telling their kids? 🤔

It's great when technology news agencies such as Heise call out Big Tech for their attempt to sovereign-wash their technology stack.

With the Trusted Tech Alliance, 16 international technology groups aim to establish trustworthy standards. However, US corporations also dominate here.

Well written short blog post on "sovereignty-washing", a quite apt term to describe the desperate attempt by Big Tech to brand "EU-sovereign" services which are actually not.

So, be aware of #SovereigntyWashing

Of course #BigTech will do everything to claim they're committed to #publicvalues and sovereignty.

Real steps towards sovereignty are about emancipating us from these tech oligopolies, set up infra under our control, auditable, open source and with local & EU service providers.

Is it easy? Nope, but step by step we can do it, all together. And generate a few million jobs in the process, in the EU.

#DigitalSovereignty is at the top of the political agenda, finally, that's good. But strange things (or not so much) are happening.

Like this one: The Luxembourg gov is moving to Google Distributed Cloud, see https://www.datacenterdynamics.com/en/news/luxembourg-govt-launches-sovereign-cloud/ and it is framed as "sovereign".

The Dutch minister for Digital Affairs (outgoing) is so inspired and might follow.

But wait a minute: a managed cloud service by Google, how much sovereignty does that give to you?

But if the #publicsector asks for #digitalsovereignty and accepts #sovereigntywashing that is exactly what they will get
