In Bath Spa in the Southwest of England, there is the excellent Holburne Museum. Based on the private collection of f Sir William Holburne (1793-1874). Small but representative, and you can still feel the personal tastes of the founder, two centuries later. They have regular special exhibitions, and they make a real effort at integrating children-oriented displays and activities.

The Brücke Museum in Berlin (Germany), dedicated to the group of expressionist painters "Die Brücke" (The Bridge) from the early 1900s. In the 1960s the government of (then) Westberlin supported the constuction of a specially designed modernist building to house the collection, in the villa district Dahlem, near the forest. Off the beaten track, and worth a visit.
