In a shocking twist of events, Claude now demands a peek at your driver's license because, apparently, stopping #Skynet starts with knowing your shoe size. 🤦‍♂️ Because who knew that asking customers to prove they're not bots was the ultimate safeguard for AI overlords? 🙄🔐

Oh joy, another article trying to convince us that #AI will steal our jobs and eat our lunch 🍔. Apparently, arXiv thinks we're all just sitting around waiting for #Skynet to write our resumes 📄. Guess we'll have to rely on Theoretical Economics for a laugh 😂.

The AI Layoff Trap

If AI displaces human workers faster than the economy can reabsorb them, it risks eroding the very consumer demand firms depend on. We show that knowing this is not enough for firms to stop it. In a competitive task-based model, demand externalities trap rational firms in an automation arms race, displacing workers well beyond what is collectively optimal. The resulting loss harms both workers and firm owners. More competition and "better" AI amplify the excess; wage adjustments and free entry cannot eliminate it. Neither can capital income taxes, worker equity participation, universal basic income, upskilling, or Coasian bargaining. Only a Pigouvian automation tax can. The results suggest that policy should address not only the aftermath of AI labor displacement but also the competitive incentives that drive it.

The #AI that found 27-year-old vulnerabilities no human ever caught before just forced an emergency meeting with every major #WallStreetCEO

Story by Jake Angelo, 4/10/2026

Except: "The meeting comes just weeks after Fortune exclusively reported #Anthropic was developing an unreleased model described by the company as 'by far the most powerful AI model' it had ever developed, the existence of which Anthropic inadvertently made public last month through its content management system. Later, the company acknowledged that model was #ClaudeMythos.

"Anthropic on Tuesday released a report titled 'Assessing Claude Mythos Preview’s cybersecurity capabilities,' noting how the model was able to find many 10- and 20-year-old vulnerabilities, as well as a 27-year-old vulnerability in #OpenBSD, an operating system that has a reputation for being one of the most secure.

"Anthropic briefed senior U.S. government officials and industry stakeholders on Mythos Preview’s capabilities ahead of its release, someone with knowledge of the matter told Fortune. In a blog post, the company said it is willing to work with officials at all levels of government to ensure national security is a priority when rolling out new AI models, and that the U.S. maintains a lead in AI technologies."
