Lo ha annunciato il portavoce del Governo, Mohamed Hussain Shareef, spiegando che la futura normativa servirà a regolamentare questo tipo di attività subacquee. Con l'avvio del processo per autorizzare le immersioni tecniche, le Maldive restano al momento una delle poche destinazioni mondiali dove tali pratiche sono ancora vietate.
Cosa prevederà la nuova legge
Parlando durante il briefing con la stampa, Shareef ha spiegato che, una volta approvata la nuova legge, verranno rilasciati permessi a ricercatori e subacquei tecnici certificati. "Dal momento che si tratta di ricercatori e di subacquei che utilizzano attrezzature specialistiche un'attività che non può essere svolta senza competenze specifiche e un altissimo livello di esperienza implementeremo e regolamenteremo tutto attraverso linee guida molto rigorose", ha dichiarato il portavoce.
Shareef ha precisato che le discussioni preliminari per la stesura della legge sono appena iniziate, ma che sia l'approvazione del testo sia la definizione dei regolamenti dovrebbero procedere rapidamente. Ha inoltre aggiunto che il quadro normativo verrà elaborato in consultazione con gli operatori del settore.

Shareef clarified that preliminary discussions for drafting the law have just begun, but that both the approval of the text and the definition of the regulations should proceed quickly. He also added that the regulatory framework will be developed in consultation with the industry stakeholders.
