However, one important use case of OpenPGP is machine-to-human communication that requires store-and-forward as well as existing cheap, easy-to-use and infrequently-changing infrastructure.

Having heard the latest #SecurityCryptographcWhatever episode I agree #Signal is technically very nice with its metadata protection.

However, #SCW doesn't take into account the problem of Signal being susceptible to the #MAGA-regime's arbitrary and capricious actions both in available and security.

I think a federated messaging protocol would be superior if made secure, precisely because of its relative immutability. No amount of goons with guns can to change it in a treacherous way.
