The Montreal Victoire didn't waste any time in selecting a first-round playoff opponent after finishing first overall in the Professional Women's Hockey League with a 2-1 shootout victory on Saturday over the host Seattle Torrent.

The #SeattleTorrent battled hard and managed to take it to a shootout against the Montreal Victoire, who were seeking the top seed in the #PWHL playoffs. A win for the Torrent would've guaranteed them this year's top overall draft pick, but only captain Hilary "we'll come back next year stronger and better" Knight scored for Seattle while Montreal got 2 past Corinne Shroeder, who kept the team in it while withstanding a barrage all game and let in only 1 goal during regulation.

These games have draft implications because unlike most leagues you do NOT want to lose your way out, you NEED TO WIN, and Vancouver and Seattle are competing TO WIN for first round draft pick placements. Currently Seattle is in control of its own destiny with a 4-3 points lead over Vancouver, but as 4-3 implies, it's tight and both these last games of the regular season actually do have meaning.

#SeattleTorrent hold off a late push from the Minnesota Frost, who got within one goal by scoring after pulling their goalie for an extra attacker, to win their season's penultimate matchup 5-4. That was an extra sweet victory after Vancouver came back down 2 goals last game and beat the Torrent 6-5 in OT. 3 crucial points were secured toward this year's top #PWHL draft pick, for which Vancouver is Seattle's sole competition.
