i'm thinking about how i wanna finish the bridge, and
if i were thinking of using this cello for a nonstandard tuning,
like this weird bass violin range between the normal contrabass [viol] and [tenor] cello tunings
the angle on the bridge /feet/ might need to be specialized slightly for such a silly tuning, given the difference in pressure from the de-tuned strings
I carved about 7mm off the bridge to start, fiddled with it for a sec, then took another 1mm off the "C" string so that I could actually manage reliable string crossings
I've never carved a bridge before, and I am totally unqualified to do so
Also playing around with scordatura - just standard fifths cello tuning taken /down a fourth/, so high2low = E,A,D,G.
I'm playing like shit, but it sounds pretty good for a $15 cello, haha~ :3
I've decided that “scordatura" is Italian for "two cellos are better than one.” Nice not having to de-tune and re-tune my primary cello between C-G-D-A and C-G-D-G all the time.
