Use your right as consumer and protect yourself and the environment from substances of very high concern. Ask suppliers which chemicals are contained in their articles. Your right to be informed applies to substances of very high concern (SVHC). These are chemicals which are, e.g., carcinogenic, mutagenic, toxic to reproduction or particularly harmful to the environment. With Scan4Chem you can scan the barcode of an article and automatically send a request to the supplier. The response helps you identify and avoid articles containing substances of very high concern. Your request demonstrates to the suppliers that you do not want to use such articles. This right to information was created exactly for this purpose. Use it!Target groupConsumersBackgroundThe European REACH Regulation grants consumers the right to be informed about substances of very high concern in articles. If you send a corresponding request to a supplier, he/she has to respond within 45 days if such a substance is contained in the article in a concentration above 0.1 weight percent. The responsibility for the responses and their correctness lies solely with the article suppliers. The app generates and transmits your request. This consumer right to information applies to articles, i.e. to most solid objects and packaging, but not to food and liquid or powdery products (cosmetics, detergents, lacquers etc.). If the article is composed of several articles (e.g. a bicycle), the supplier has to provide information for every included article (e.g. handles).
