Reason #18(b) why #FordMustGo

For the sake of adding credibility to a personal vanity project, the mega spa, Ford wants to demolish an iconic building designed by a world-famous Canadian architect. A building that was a gift to the city and an attraction that was groundbreaking in North America when it opened. I suspect the building will be saved, making the killing of the Ontario Science Centre that much worse.

Ford Government just issued an RFP looking for commercial real estate space for a temporary Science Centre. This will end up costing more than fixing the roof and properly funding the attraction. Governments estimates for repairs are reported to be exaggerated and out of touch with engineering experts. Ford really needs the Science Centre to be relocated to Ontario Place to prop up traffic for that spa.

The Ontario government is procuring a temporary Science Centre. I’m calling it now: - This temp location will cost more than $22-million. - It will be more expensive than making short-term repairs on the real museum.

To take serious action to slow or reverse climate change, it will take renewed investment in public transit from all levels of government. It was great to sit down with the National Observer to discuss what action is needed. Read more: https://www.nationalobserver.com/2023/12/19/news/great-green-dreams-olivia-chow

(They want to cut down, any day, 800 mature trees in a public park, to make way for a parking garage for a private spa. Seriously, ffs.)
