The term "fool" was demonized. Originally a fool was someone who not only entertained the courts and sovereign leaders. But, also mocked them. Held them accountable. Held the mirror up to society and made them see the error in their own ways in a playful way.

Leaders don't always have accountability. To many suppressive systems its deemed a threat. So now, fools are viewed as idiotic.

The demonization was deliberate.

In a world surrounded by tools, be a fool.

Why do I pick Mastodon over the conspiracy X?

Well, a Mastodon is of the Mammoth family. A big ass creature that one could ride into battle.
