The Walrus & the Carpenter

I went for a short walk in my happy place today, which just happens to reside near our main provincial energy corridor.

One of 10 turbines from the #burchillWind project from #SaintJohnEnergy on the left, Coleson Cove #HFO burner by #NBPower on the right.

Burchill is #nb's newest windfarm, 50% owned by local Indigenous folks. It emitted 0 #ghg.

Coleson Cove is #newBrunswick's 3rd worst polluter. In 2021 it emitted 430,112.82 tonnes of #co2, equivalent to 86,000 cars driving 25,000 km.

There's not a snowballs chance in hell that "no money was lost" on this venture.

Meanwhile, #SaintJohnEnergy quietly added a 7.5MW battery system. Tried and true.

Nothing wrong with innovating, new tech, new companies and all that... but NBP should be better able to vet realistic goals from fantasy, whether they're paying millions or not.
