oatmeal#Netanyahu’s citation of Will Durant equating Christ and Genghis Khan as historical equals was a deliberate articulation of a political philosophy: raw power supersedes ethics, moral frameworks are obstacles to “necessary” action, and the victor gets to define what counts as legitimate.
Netanyahu not only forgot about the universal Judeo-Christian values we’ve been forced to accept as morally superior, he also forgets he is a wanted war criminal facing #genocide charges.
The sharpest response I’ve read to his morally bankrupt analysis comes from Ihsan al-Faqih, a Jordanian writer:
[…] “What escaped Netanyahu in this unjust comparison is that Genghis Khan’s empire has vanished, becoming a relic of the past, while the ethics of Christ have endured, transcending time.”
Genghis Khan’s empire is dust, while Christ’s ethical legacy persists, however distorted by evangelists and neo-crusaders in the #US and beyond.
