As I have said before "It is all about trust"

The USA imposes a 30% "witholding tax" on individuals taking dividend profits on USA stocks. This is reduced to 15% if a simple W-8BEN form is filed certifying foreign status. If the investor is domiciled in a country with a tax treaty with the USA (like the UK and many other countries) - the tax on certain investments (like a UK #SIPP #pension) is reduced to zero.

There is the fear that the W-8BEN acts as a very easy way to engage a punishing tax at "the drop of #trump hat".

Exchange Traded Fund managers would be very embarrassed if this screw was turned - so there is an overall trend to limit this exposure to a future trade war.

#Aviva plc is offering to buy your 6.125% 2036 notes in a tender offer.

BUT THEY ARE NOT PREPARED TO TELL YOU FOR HOW MUCH UNTIL THEY ARE SOLD

How anybody is supposed to be able to manage their own pension when this sort of nonsense is allowed by the Financial Services Authority.

A worked example would be good!

The failure of the #Woodford fund, after outsized bets on illiquid assets about sums up the situation the #FCA places UK #SIPP #Pension retail investors every day. Why the UK can't implement a US style 401K rating scheme to guide UK pensioners beats me. The #FCA does nothing and #SIPP managers like Hargreaves Lansdown response is to further restrict investors e.g. No US dollar denominated stocks i a #SIPP i.e. protect themselves

Does anyone here have a #SIPP provider they recommend?

As I've now quit my job (😬) I need to sock some money away for #retirement.

Any suggestions from people in the UK would be most welcome.

(FTAOD I know how to use Google - I'm looking for people who have a SIPP provider they personally use.)

Why does #sipp need the TLS Cert File and the TLS Key File when connecting as UAS to a TLS-service?!
We removed the check in the sources and it just works as expected.
