Ben HurOkay, hear me out. The mandatory sim card registration actually solves the scam text messages issue. Now that my unregistered sim is deactivated and can't receive (or send) any messages, I don't receive any scam text messages anymore. 😂

I think if I need help I'd try an office or store, not random strangers or passersby. 🤔 Something worth planning for. Things do* happen. 🤷♀️ I'd say I'll be back on this or that day and pay them back, and I'll leave my phone number. That'll work, now that we got #SIMcardRegistration. Maybe an ID too, if necessary.
Without an ordinary remedy or recourse to know how your data is being collected or used—I don't think the writ of habeas data is enough—as well as the ability to simply ask for data relating to you to be deleted, there are many ways that this can be exploited.

There's no winning with mandatory sim card registration. It's going to be a net negative for a lot of us in the Philippines—from a convenience and privacy standpoint. We're just adding extra points of failure to our already weak data/privacy systems.
