@bergmeister Thanks! That explains why it was especially common when I moved to #Bern in fall 1998 and started hearing European sporting anthems at #SCBern matches. Great to finally learn what it is. (It was about 5 years ago that I finally identified the triumphal march from "Aida", despite having heard and sung it many times.)

Too many errors to summarize in one toot! But I think NHL expansion to Europe would be terrible. European ice hockey is great and stuffing the NHL in would either fail to capture the experience or mess it up by siphoning the top teams out. (Although if they take #ZSCLions and leave #SCBern and #EVZug alone maybe it's not all bad.) Also: ask #Jokerit how jumping to the KHL worked out for them. #Eishockey

@freezenet finally got around to reading the article. Hard to take it seriously when the writer displays such ignorance of European #IceHockey: not knowing #Jokerit dropped out of the KHL in 2022, and screwing up the name of #SCBern in two different ways. Not to mention errors in judgement like saying Switzerland isn't a #hockey superpower like Germany, and EHC Eisbären Berlin have been around since 1956 & are founding members of the #PennyDEL. (Technically true but SC Dynamo predated the DEL.)
