I was at Czaplinek, but I didn't visit the Pol'And'Rock festival.

This year, #PolRegio (the Polish train operator responsible for regional trains) decided to run a large number of there-and-back train connections between #Szczecinek and Czaplinek (the line that normally sees a handful of trains) to serve the festival. This provided a great opportunity to visit this beautiful region. Unfortunately, it's jest done once a year, and involves huge crowds. Of course, PolRegio totally failed to provide connections from Szczecinek to anywhere else in Poland. But let's start at the beginning.

I've decided to use the opportunity and visit the lakes around Czaplinek. I was a little worried seeing how many people arrived in the previous train from Czaplinek, but seeing it arrived a few minutes ahead of schedule, I've figured I'll manage my change back home. In the other direction, I drove all alone in one of the two units (hybrid Newag 36WEh), I don't know if there were any passengers in the other one.

Just before my return journey, one of the trains suffered a fault (the infamous "DRM"? Exceeded the subscription for connections to Czaplinek?), so everything fell apart. I returned in the middle of thick crowd, I've lost my connection home and had to wait 3.5 h for another train to Poznań.

Of course, I didn't wait at the train station. First I took a walk along the lakeside promenade. There I've concluded that I can enter the train at an earlier train stop in Szczecinek to find a seat before the crowds waiting at the main station enter. In the end, I've decided to take a train in the opposite direction first, go to Grzmiąca and change trains there, so I would have sufficient time to use the toilet and find a seat.

The "Harpun" departed from Kołobrzeg 45 minutes late. At the station preceding Grzmiąca, it was 25 minutes late. To Grzmiąca, it arrived merely 10 minutes late and I had to run for it (well, was I supposed to wait 30 minutes on the platform?!) So much wasted potential.

"Harpun" normally takes 4 h 45 min to reach Poznań. "Riwiera" (equivalent train) reaches Kołobrzeg in less than 4 h. And that one wastes time on prolonged stops and passing points.

By the way, all the seats were taken already, and I barely managed to take the seat freed by someone getting off in Szczecinek. The train was too short for its regular trips, not to mention all the extra festival-goers.

As a bonus, a "kolzłom" (a combination of "Kolzam" brand and the word "junk") on a side track.

Byłem w Czaplinku, lecz nie na Festiwalu.

Jak cytowałem wcześniej, #PolRegio zebrało się na gest i uruchomiło gęsto wahadło między Szczecinkiem, a Czaplinkiem, tym samym umożliwiając realny dojazd w te piękne okolice. Szkoda, że tylko raz w roku, i w połączeniu z takimi tłumami. Oczywiście, połączenie Szczecinka z resztą Polski zawiodło na całej linii. Ale od początku.

Postanowiłem skorzystać z okazji i obejrzeć czaplineckie jeziora. Trochę przeraziła mnie liczba osób, wysiadających w Szczecinku, ale pociąg przyjechał kilka minut przed czasem, więc doszedłem do wniosku, że na przesiadkę zdążę. W drugą stronę jechałem chyba sam na całą jednostkę (hybrydowy Impuls) — nie wiem, czy w drugiej ktoś był.

Tuż przed moim pociągiem powrotnym któraś jednostka uległa awarii (DRM? Brak subskrypcji na tyle połączeń do Czaplinka?), więc wszystko się rozjechało. Miałem przyjemność wracać w tłoku, przesiadkę do Poznania straciłem i przyszło mi czekać 3,5 h na kolejny pociąg.

Oczywiście, zamiast czekać na dworcu, wybrałem się nad jezioro. Tam doszedłem do wniosku, że do pociągu wsiądę na przystanku Chyże albo Bugno, żeby złapać miejsce przed "woodstockowiczami". A następnie poszedłem jeszcze dalej, wsiadłem w R do Kołobrzegu, i wybrałem przesiadkę w Grzmiącej, żeby zdążyć skorzystać z toalety i zająć miejsce.

"Harpun" (RP) odjechał z Kołobrzegu 45 minut po czasie. Do poprzedniej stacji zmniejszył opóźnienie do 25 minut. Do Grzmiącej przyjechał jakieś 10 minut po planie, więc biegłem za nim z wywalonym jęzorem (przecież nie będę na peronie!). Tyle na temat niewykorzystanego potencjału.

"Harpun" planowo jedzie 4 h 45 min. "Riwiera" (równoważny pociąg) rano do Kołobrzegu jedzie niecałe 4 h. A i ona ma postoje i mijanki.

Swoją drogą, pociąg już był pełen, i rzutem na taśmę zająłem miejsce, które ktoś zwolnił przed samym Szczecinkiem. Pociąg był za krótki na cotygodniowe połączenie Poznań-Kołobrzeg, nie mówiąc o powrocie z Pol'And'Rock.
