Samsung starts working on the Galaxy S26 firmware
The rumored Galaxy S26 device that will replace the current Galaxy S25 flagship series introduced this January has reached the next stage of development. According to the test firmware information found in the official firmware servers for the two known models, the Galaxy S26 has entered firmware development, and One UI 8.5 will most likely debut by the time that the Galaxy S26 gets announced in the Galaxy Unpacked January 2026 event. This was first discovered by a Korean member in the community forums.
As the initial post was made for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, we’ve taken a step further and scanned the Galaxy S26 Edge and all the available Korean CSCs, and found that they all bear the same build number, as below:
The following firmware information for the Galaxy S26 Ultra is available:
- SM-S948N: S948NKSU0AYJ5 [KOO, SKC, KTC, LUC]
- SM-S948U: S948USQU0AYJ6 [TMB]
- SM-S948U1: S948U1UEU0AYJ5 [XAA]
- SM-S948B: S948BXXU0AYJ5 [INS, EUX]
The following firmware information for the Galaxy S26 Edge is available:
- SM-S947N: S947NKSU0AYJ5 [KOO, SKC, KTC, LUC]
- SM-S947U: S947USQU0AYJ6 [TMB]
- SM-S947U1: S947U1UEU0AYJ5 [XAA]
- SM-S947B: S947BXXU0AYJ5 [INS, EUX]
However, the rumored Pro model, which is supposed to be SM-S946N, is not available yet as we checked. This is just the start of the development, so more information will be officially available as the announcement date of the device gets closer. This matches what SammyGuru reported for the IMEI database for the upcoming devices that were placed back in June.
