Mount #Rundle over the Bow River - #Canmore, #Alberta

After the snow stopped falling, it remained on the ground and trees right up until we left, at least in Canmore. Enough of it did melt to give us an evolving landscape of highlights and contrasts.

I hear it's pretty firmly locked in "snow on the ground and not going anywhere anytime soon" mode now, though. The temperature's been dipping down to below -25C the last few nights.

The Historic Engine Bridge - #Canmore, #Alberta

The Engine Bridge was built (possibly cobbled together from other bridges) 130 years ago to span the Bow River and service a coal mine off the main CP Rail line through the Rockies. Today it's part of the Spur Line Trail, a rails-to-trail walking path that cuts through the town.

In the background you can see Mount #Rundle, which stretches most of the way from Canmore to #Banff.
