Tempo on the PulseRuby Jones is a singer, songwriter, teacher, and also works as a vocal instructor with Girls Rock!, an organisation that runs programs for young female and non-binary people to encourage participation in the music industry.
After playing with bands, including Clairy Browne and the Bangin’ Rackettes, she decided to write her own music.
She was inspired by Stevie Nicks’ 1976 version of Rhiannon, which she said “was the closest thing I’ve had to a religious experience.”
When she got writing, she had no intention of recording any of it herself, instead imagining herself taking the backseat while others sang her tunes.
Her new single, ‘Feeling of Falling’ a rollicking track created in and inspired by the period of lockdown restrictions that impacted Melbournians in 2020 -21.
