Musical Interlude: Well, here's a new discovery. Listening to Mountain Stage this morning, I heard one their guests, the Langan Band, folk musicians I was unfamiliar with. I liked their sound and plan to investigate their work. Here's a sample, from the 2022 Orkney Folk Festival.

"Djelem Djelem/Drunken Dwarf," performed live by the Langan Band.

Musical Interlude: Violinist Lara St. John generated a bit of a stir when she posed topless for her first album cover (with a strategically placed violin keeping it decent). She sniffed at those who objected, pointing to all sorts of classical albums featuring art with nude women on the covers. I liked her spirit and like her playing even more. Here's something from later in her career.

"Czardashian Rhapsody," played by Lara St. John on violin, Matt Herskowitz on piano.

Musical Interlude: I first heard this piece in college, and loved it immediately. I own several different recordings and love it on cold, cold nights. We hardly had any this year, and I've missed listening to this, so I'll play it tonight.

"Tzigane," by Maurice Ravel, performed by the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, Renaud Capuçon on violin.
