the feeling when you go to reassemble something after 3 or 4 years and it's easier to buy some new screws that find the little tin or plastic bag you put the originals in.

Plus the time you spend looking for the carefully curated bag of small computer connectors that you have put somewhere safe.and now can't find.

On the #PS4 that I found at the recycling yard recently, someone intentionally mutilated all the ports.
It's one thing to just throw away stuff you don't use anymore, but this is some next level evil bullshit!🤬🤮

Yesterday's Saturday chores at the recycling yard. I had to leave the crt behind because it was too far down and too heavy for me alone to lift overhead.😭

Similarly I have some IoT devices from a company that went into receivership. They’re running embedded Linux even. Can I replace the software without a JTAG debugger? No. For goodness sake. Locked out of my own shit. #RightToReuse

My Mum recently upgraded her phone and tablet. I now have an iPhone 7 and and iPad mini that both are physically fine (with the exception of battery wear). The problem? They’re no longer supported by Apple. I can’t even sign into them. I’m okay with a company deciding not to support old hardware but I think they should be forced to remove any “security measures” which stop us being able to replace the software with an open source alternative. Not just a #righttorepair but a #RightToReuse
