#WordWeavers 1 Introduce your antagonist with as much sympathy as possible.

The Duke of Havelock is a relatively young nobleman whose father put into a place a regime of terror that maintains vast armies of indentured agricultural workers to supply his coffers with money. He has continued these policies and has used the wealth to develop a weapon of mass destruction that can devastate whole cities — maybe whole islands. He dreams of becoming king and dominating all of the islands.

#WritingWonders 17 MC POV: What is a deal breaker in a friendship and/or relationship?

Revin is a natural and consummate politician, able to work with people with whom he disagrees on nearly everything if he can find even a single point of common interest. But he draws a hard line at abusing children. He grew up in an abusive environment and seeing someone abuse children will make him see red. #revinsheart

#WritingWonders 15 What parts of your world would you recommend a tourist to stay away from? Why?

Beskin Harbor, which was a tourist destination, was destroyed by the Etheric Storm Generator, so it's not much of a place to visit anymore — as was the Capital of Harway. And there are certainly rough places, like the warehouse district in Devishire, where strangers — especially those with foreign accents — would be at risk of being accosted or mugged. #revinsheart

#WritingWonders 14 What parts of your world would you recommend a tourist to visit?

The obvious place to visit would be Sendia Springs (from Crossing the Streams), a cozy inn near scenic hot springs on the road between Beskin Harbor & the Hermitage. It has showers (unusual in Revin's world) and mineral baths. It boasts an excellent restaurant that serves small-plate delicacies. And the service is outstanding. The inn considers itself the premier resort on the Island of Havelock. #revinsheart

#WritingWonders 12 Does your MC have any prejudices?

In The Third Time's the Charm, Revin experiences prejudice when a noble snubs him for being a commoner. And he probably carries some prejudice about nobles until he is introduced to society and finds that nobles are just people -- the same as commoners. Eventually, he comes to the conclusion that what divides people are the rules both nobles and commoners follow and works to rewrite the rules to produce a more equitable society. #revinsheart

I just realized that you could analyze Revin's Heart using the structure of an otome game story: Words is the Prince. The commoner is Lidja. And the Villainess is Momo. Revin aligns himself with both the Villainess and the commoner. Huh… #RevinsHeart

"But there is something I want to do," he said, when Lidja finally came up for air.
"Mmmmm," Lidja said, giving him little kisses on his neck & throat and working her way lower.
"And it's dangerous," he continued as she began to unbutton his shirts.
"Mm-hmm," she said, reaching around to unhook his chest binding.
"And I'll need your help," he said.
"Mm-hmm," she agreed as she kissed him on his chest & belly.
