As someone living on stolen land, I just had a minor experience that reminded me of the erasure of Indigenous peoples and perhaps the importance of representation.

I just came across a toot referencing the Lenape people. That name was familiar to me. The familiarity comes from a television series, “Ghosts” on CBS.

I live on the West Coast and have learned a lot about dominant U.S. culture on the East Coast (for better or worse in accuracy).

My feelings come up a bit (feeling emotional) about recognizing the name as an identity—made possible by representation in media.

It reminded me of the sadness of the fictional tribe in Star Trek: Voyager.

I want to see more representation of the full diversity of humans.

Why Do So Many Black Superheroes Have Electricity Powers?

Growing up as a kid who loved comic books, I spent many an afternoon running around the park pretending to be a superhero fighting all manners of evil. Fun as it was, the process of picking out which superhero I wanted to be always stressed me out for one particular reason that still bothers me to this day.
