What Lercher describes below is exactly the same as the process of #RelevanceRealization (originally proposed by John Vervaeke in a human cognitive context) that we describe and naturalize in this paper:

In this recent #FT piece

(paywalled, unfortunately), #KarlFriston gets to say, once more (this time in his role as chief scientist of #VersesAI), that active inference and the #FEP will allow #AI to have true agency.

This is utter bullshit.

Agency requires #RelevanceRealization but Friston's framework cannot deal with that. You will not get true agency from that. It's sill purely about problem *solving*, not *framing*.

Client Challenge

This little explainer of #agency as the basis of #FreeWill by Arvin Ash and Philip Ball is quite neat, even pointing out the importance of #RelevanceRealization (without naming it, though...)

Do all living things have free will? Or are they controlled by DNA and other forces?
