Facebook Messenger has finally allowed users to disable the 'double check' feature, which shows read receipts. Unlike WhatsApp, Messenger does not include a read indicator on each message, but instead uses a single indicator to show how far the message has been read. This new feature is found in the Privacy and Security settings. Disabling the read receipts means that the sender will not be able to see if you have read their messages, and vice versa. However, messages will still be marked as delivered. To disable read receipts, open the Messenger app, go to the menu, select the gear icon, and go to Privacy and Security. There, you will find the new 'Confirmations of Reading' option. Simply toggle off the switch to disable the feature. Note that if you want to truly go incognito, you should also disable your active status in the same Privacy and Security menu.
