Sad to hear of the passing of #JohnMotson

A legend of football commentary. He was a little more informal than the other commentary BBC types who preceded him. He was at all the big matches, a relaxed tone, until he got excited, the right words at the right time, the occasional funny faux pas and an iconic sheepskin coat.

Voice of an era. I’ve worked around commentators most of my career and trust me, it isn’t just someone talking incessantly. There’s a lot more to it then that.
