Sprints – PyCon UK 2025

PyCon UK Friday 19th September to Monday 22nd September 2025, Contact Theatre, Manchester

Well, that's @PyConUK 2025 done for me... that was fun. :) Learnt things, met a lot of interesting people. It is a very well organised and provisioned conference.

My first but hopefully not my last.

I highly recommend it to Python users of all levels (or even just the Python interested or adjacent, the scope and interest of the talks is very broad.)

Now.... just the 3.5 hour drive home. πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

Day off tomorrow... I may well mainly be watching PyCon talks I missed.

#PyConUK2025

Also some useful advice for all of us at #PyConUK2025... hiring is hard right now, from both ends of the equation (and I've been on both ends this year, it sucks)

Companies should put time into getting involved in coding and tech communities, and foster them in their areas. This works in everyone's favour in the grand scheme of things.

I admit that "recruiter" was once a dirty word to me, but it took both network/referral and a recruiter to successfully find work. A good recruiter works for *both* parties in the process. (Finding the good ones is not necessarily the easiest part, and the good ones know their worth.)

I'll link this keynote here when it is online. Think I'm going to spend my PyCon day-in-lieu off tomorrow watching PyConUK content πŸ˜
