I first met Grouch about 20 years ago in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, at a flow night, or maybe full moon drumming. Loved his first album The Moof is Rooving, released in 2006, and I've been enjoying his music ever since.

Along with Avotor, Pitch Black were one of the first fully instrumental groups I got into. Seeing shows by both bands opened up my understanding of what live music could be. Sadly Avotor were fairly shortlived, only saw them once, but I've seen PB many times, and both members as solo artists too.
