Porticello ist bis heute Heimathafen vieler Luzzi - traditionelle, bunt bemalte Holzboote, die auf Sizilien seit Generationen für den Küstenfang genutzt werden. Ihre Rümpfe sind meist bunt gestrichen; die Form ist robust. Einige der Boote sind Jahrzehnte alt und werden noch immer liebevoll gepflegt, andere liegen versunken im Hafenbecken zwischen den modernen Stahlkuttern.
