Made an interactive #Atari 8-bit sound tutorial by translating my NES driver for the #POKEY:

It builds up a basic sound driver in 6502 assembly in 9 incremental steps, from playing a single note to a simple tune. Uses my own custom assembler and the ASAP player for the CPU and POKEY emulation.
I rewrote my Atari POKEY sound engine for greater accuracy, and also figured out how to feed the channels to the live scope. This video was not rendered in post, I simply recorded my screen while the editor played it.

StarWars was slow, and I finally found the #POKEY Atari sound chip emulation were sampling at 150000 hz instead of the standard frequency output of 44100 or 22050. POKEY is present in all the #Atari 8bits computers and Atari arcade games , it does the voices in the arcade starwars and gauntlet games, and not only was it managing pads potentiometers like the commodore C64 SID, but also keyboard, that's why the name is POKEY.
