I enjoy forms that have a sort of punch/counterpunch e.g. sonnet, haiku.
I actively dislike most forms that involve repetition of entire lines (except as a chorus).
I like to find rhyme entwined throughout the poem.

This week at the #PoetryCafe we’re looking at different forms of poetry. What form do you like reading/writing the most and why?

For the writers, have you ever mixed and matched forms? Did it work? How did you feel about the process? Would you do it again?

For the readers, how much does form influence your enjoyment of a poetry? Do you mind when a poet you enjoy reading changes forms?

#Haikus are simply any phrase of poetry, rhyming or not, which has exactly 17 syllables.

They don't have to be deep or philosophical or even serious. #Poetry can be fun. My favorite #haiku writer is #TomWilson (aka "Biff" in the #BackToTheFuture franchise). He has such humorous gems as:

"Life matches on, faster and faster,
But the fact is you can't rush toast."

"Danny Bonaduce
prob'ly wouldn't make a good babysitter."

" #FredFlintstone ordered ribs every week
He had to know they'd tip his car."

More of his #humor in the video link.

Time for some #PoetryForAll with a #poem from a #poet. Today it's the turn of Sara Berkeley, born, like me, in 1967 in Dublin. This is Slow Fox Farm from her most recent collection The Last Cold Day, available from Gallery Press https://gallerypress.com/authors/a-to-f/sara-berkeley/

Doireann Ní Ghríofa is my favourite living Irish poet, writing in Irish, English and bilingually. This is from Nine Silences published by The Salvage Press https://thesalvagepress.com/index.php?p=nine-silences-standard where she responds to art by Alice Maher #alicemaher #doireannnighriofa #poem #poetry #poetryforall #thesalvagepress
