The PO-14 Sub has the best graphics of the bunch. The scale is locked (which I guess some folks hate), and you can only use one bass sound per step. Some of the best PO tracks I've heard were made with the Sub, but for some reason I couldn't come close to making anything nearly as good. It's not as straightforward as the Rhythm, but is still easy enough to use. It truly captures the gritty low-fi feel of the PO series. #pocketoperator
I should follow up my post about selling off my #pocketoperator collection with some anecdotes about them. I'll just do them in order.
The PO-12 Rhythm was the first one I got, and the last one I sold. It's the cheapest to buy used, the first one made, and the most straightforward to use. As a simple drum machine, it's quite fantastic, with very flexible sounds and nice punch-in FX. You're obviously limited to the stock sounds but for just picking a PO up and grooving, this is the one.
