This is one of the best explainers of aperture for complete novices or for people like me who seem to have to revise how it works.

Don't forget the magic triangle of

aperture <--> shutter speed <--> ISO

which if you are using manual or aperture priority / shutter priory, this will become apparent by trial & error.

So e.g. if you want the shutter speed higher, play with aperture & ISO.
