β†ͺ our own warblers, then think again.

These are #American β€œwood-warblers” of the family #Parulidae, whose plumage – even in autumn – is a galaxy of rich, bright colours.

And this afternoon, I had an even more uncommon visitor to my backyard: a female magnolia warbler.

I've only seen one in my garden twice before, five years ago, and ten years ago! So I guess I was due for a quinquennial visit.

I'm closer to Prospect Park, but I'm also close to Green-Wood!

They're not common visitors to my garden - at least not while I'm in it to see them! I saw my first ever in 2007, right in my backyard. I've observed them more frequently in recent years.
