Die erste Lade war aus Stein. Darin trugen wir den lebendigen Gott, das Feuer. Die Cherubim darauf zeigen die Insektenschwärme, die sich nachts daran versammelten. Bei Tag war die Wolke Gottes über der Lade zu sehen. So waren waren wir unbesiegbar. #Parashah

The first ark was made of stone. In it we carried the living God, the fire. The cherubim on it show the swarms of insects that gathered around at night. By day the cloud of God could be seen over the ark. So we were invincible. #parasha

Studying this week's parashah - Vayechi - with the Sefat Emet, Rabbi Yehuda Leib Alter of Ger. From "The language of truth" by Rabbi Arthur Green. I love this book! Some think of Hasidic thought as Orthodox, yet this book is used by Reform Jews, Jewish Renewal, Conservative Jews, Havurah movement, Trad-Egal, etc.
