TIL that Minoru Yamasaki who designed the World Trade Center #WTC was born in #Seattle to Japanese immigrants and went to Garfield High and the UW.

He designed the Science Pavilion for the World's Fair in Seattle in 1962, that became the Pacific Science Center #PacSci (the nation's 1st science & tech center, also TIL).

He also designed the Rainier Tower.

Fun fact: law required that the Fair's buildings be used as govt warehouses after the Fair. Yamasaki said no.
