As we reveal more of this set, I think some really unique strategies will start popping up within the Hero and Villain camps. We had a definite vision in mind and tried to lean a little less on what already existed! My partner had a huge hand in the development of the mechanics for every character (it's her favorite series of all time, after all) and I'm stoked to make these a reality alongside her!

Alright guys I know its 2 weeks into March, but here were my final two creations for #funaday2026: Trainer Red and Trainer Blue.

They're meant to synergize with the Pokémon sets created by the Ace Trainer himself, Drsnackfood, who was one of the first customs fools to break rank and start injecting the game with worlds from outside the comics sphere.

Even though he's on a bit of a hiatus, his sets have been some of my favorite, rooted in balanced, meat and potatoes OP mechanics. Consider these my attempt at paying homage to these wonderful ideas, as well as building on their sturdy foundations.

I wanted to give them a real "Trainer" feel, allowing them to interact with their front line of mons by way of Teamworks and Double Shots (the latter of which are seldom used) and more of that flavor'll get savored as I develop their Special kits.

It's worth nothing that Golduck and Poliwhirl don't currently exist in any capacity, so I'm either gonna have to bring the snackster outta self imposed exile, or make em myself! So while Fun-A-Day may officially be done for the year, there's no reason for me stop the festivities when we've still gotta catch 'em all.

#funaday2026 Day 26 - friends over, out to shows, eating food, I've done it all, but I promise this one was actually done on Feb 26, 2026!

The only Ultimates associate missing is the one time Blue Marvel archvillain, the Anti-Man, and here he is as the Triskelion's aspect (like a Special, but played directly by the Homebase, and thus less susceptible to certain defenses).

It's a bit of a doozy, offering a ton of utility to offset the Location's stern IA. Really stoked on the layout of this one (I really need to make my own card game, stat!)

#funaday2026 Day 24 - A more recent complaint I've had regarding the customs world is how unfun it is for nothing to ever land. Pure avoids, team wide defenses, and Negates have proliferated throughout the landscape and it just feels like nothing happens for whole games. LRG has really succeeded here, taking Negates' potential into account when calculating a Character's Threat Level and nerfing Avoids across the board.

When I started to think about what the Bride should do, I knew that I wanted her Specials to synergize with her Inherent Ability and provide some heavy pressure, but I think it would be too easy to just give her answers for absolutely everything, contributing to the power creep customs often lurches towards. (I'm looking at you, post-'99 Batman!)

So, here's the start to the Bride's revenge tour. A friend in the community has assures me it doesn't feel bad, but only proper testing will tell! I think "Walk Away" is limited enough that it won't warrant an OPD designation, while still being useful to the person running ol' Bea.

#funaday2026 Days 22 & 23 - I actually skipped Day 22 and ended up knocking the out back to back Day 23. I couldn't leave O-Ren unprotected for too long, though, so here's the legion of goons one must get through first!

Gogo is such an icon that she can't be ignored, but her and the 88 don't have quite enough presence in the movie to make whole Character kits.

I think that's where TPD kicked open the design space when they decided to create SUPPORT Characters (and that ain't the first time, either!) Bit players with heavy zeitgeist cachet or omnipresent but underdeveloped background filler (think Trek's Red Shirts or Wars' Stormtroopers) can get a chance to shine.

They die with just one Hit, but don't count toward your TPD and open up some gnarly combo potential. They don't have Specials themselves, but the RECRUIT Characters should have synergies built into their kit to support, well, the SUPPORT.

I'm excited to keep messing around with this mechanic and proud of this first foray!

#funaday2026 Day 21: the brutal and cunning leader of the Yakuza, Cottonmouth herself: O-Ren Ishii. She's my favorite of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, so I'm hoping to do her justice.

I hadn't created anything using the "RECRUIT" mechanic developed by TPD Cards yet, and figured she, as the leader of Yakuza, protected as she is by Johnny Mo, Gogo Yubari, and the Crazy 88, would be a great fit.

Once I get to the Specials, I want it to feel like she's just throwing bodies at you, wearing you down until the final bout, just like the movie!

I really enjoyed putting this together, the excellent art by Craig Drake captures O-Ren perfectly without feeling too photorealistic and I love the Nagle-print aesthetic. I tried something new with the text shadows, throwing on a stroke of a relevant color which really makes it all pop.

#funaday2026 Day 20 - Quick Energy/Fighting remodel of "A New Kind of Ring," "The Last Blade of Hattori Hanzō" feels like a natural choice to EMPOWER characters fit for fighting.

Gotta figure out the Strength and Intellect ones next, but not sure where I'll land with those quite yet. Chime in if you've got any suggestions, ya nerds!

Two things:

1) I'm thinking of reworking how EMPOWER works already by lowering the value of the card you can pull, which I think would allow me to do one or both of the following: a) let the card be a duplicate and b) let the card be placed directly to the Artifact itself, freeing up the Character's own placing slot for bigger PCs.

2) Wow, I hate Quentin Tarantino as a person but I really love Kill Bill!
