I finally succeeded in getting #OvenMediaEngine to work on a #RaspberryPi 5. This will be tested at #EverfreeEncore as a local video stream delivery / cache server. So when people attending Everfree Encore irl also join in PonyTown or watch in PonyStream while connected to the wifi/wlan, then they get the video stream from the local Raspberry Pi instead of each one separately over the shared internet connection (which would likely overload the internet connection).
Okay, time to hit the hay again. My progress so far: Unit tests green, did a quick manual smoke-test and it now supports current versions of #OvenMediaEngine. However I found a bunch of issues in the new OME, so will have to spend the next evening sending pull requests to that project and maintaining a fork until its all upstream.

happy to release the first alpha of the #ovenmedia #drupal module. It integrates with the great opensource #OvenMediaEngine streaming server.
I've learned a lot during development and will incrementally add features we need for @DORFTV

i hope that some of you find it useful. If so, jump in! #opensource
If you find bugs or security implications, or simply want to exchange ideas, pls let me know.

Now looking forward to join #drupaldevdays23 tomorrow #ddd23

So, I did some further testing of #GPT4 / #chatgpt and it completely failed to build a java spring boot example code to make an #OvenMediaEngine server push a live stream to another RTMP server like for example YouTube. It generated complete bullshit regarding the POST call body, but at least got the authentication correct. I told it a couple of times what all is wrong, and even pointed it to the interface documentation, but still, the improvements were such small steps...
I pushed this workload forward week after week for a couple of months, but now with the recent #OpenSSL library updates, I was forced to finally get that work done.
It also will allow other upcoming work by me on the load balancer / distributor, which uses the #RESTful API from #OvenMediaEngine.
Those load balancer improvements will further increase reliability of the system, simplify setup of it, and will include a bunch of new API features for Reiuiji

The past couple of days I spent most of my free time on getting my video stream distribution service updated to a current version of #OvenMediaEngine. A bunch of improvements will go back into the agplv3 licensed OME project as well as the #OvenPlayer from AirenSoft.

Main improvements for online community events:
- low-latency HLS support - important for users of Apple devices (because Safari is a PITA!)
- better performance, thus lower cost of operation
- better recovery from failures/errors

Hรคtte wer Lust beim #rc3 meine Streamplatformsoftware mit Basis von #OvenMediaEngine zu nutzen?

Wรผrde sie gerne spreaden und dann ggf. weiterentwickeln.
