The current situation with out-of-tree #filesystems in #Linux seems to be:
- DKMS/Patches: Constant churn from #kernel breakage (maximal maintenance), maximal performance
- #FUSE: Stable API, less-than-maximal performance, no root usability
#ZUFS, if it caught on and got mainlined, would retain FUSE's "no root usability" and all of the upsides.
#DKMS #OutOfTree
